November - Empowering Teens

November is all about empowering teens, whether it’s taking on new challenges, building stronger connections, or finding confidence in who they are. This is a theme that resonates deeply with our mission to inspire, educate, and uplift the next generation of changemakers. Throughout this month, Community Hearts was dedicated to providing opportunities for teens to connect, learn, and take steps toward their bright futures.

Sunday Spotlight

This month, we launched our Sunday Spotlight series on Instagram, featuring an inspiring teen each Sunday who is making a significant impact in their community. From launching small businesses and advocating for environmental causes to excelling in business education and community organizing, these teens showcased the power of young people to create meaningful change.

Whether it was through entrepreneurial ventures, sustainability projects, or leadership in student organizations, each featured teen brought unique ideas and unwavering determination to their work. Their stories served as powerful reminders that passion and purpose can lead to real impact.

Exploring Post-Secondary Options

One of the central topics this month was Post-Secondary Education—a key step for many teens as they plan their futures. We explored various pathways, including traditional universities, trade programs, and gap year opportunities. Our goal was to ensure teens felt informed and empowered to make choices aligned with their passions and goals.

To provide first-hand insights, we organized two major initiatives:

  1. Student University Panel – We invited students from Queen's, McMaster, Waterloo, McGill, and the University of Toronto to share their journeys, challenges, and successes, offering valuable advice for those navigating the transition to post-secondary life.

  2. University Virtual Panel –  We invited admissions officers from the University of British Columbia and McMaster University to help students learn more about post-secondary life and the admission process. They provided insight on pressing questions about applications, scholarships, and program options, equipping attendees with the tools needed to confidently move forward.
